I am the first of me, the last of me, and the ONLY me.... Me being JUST me is MORE THAN enough... I have no competition since no one can be me better than I can be me.😊 I'm operating at a place of essence and MY signal is simply their noise. I accept that temporary fact. Not everyone is tuned to my signal. 😊

the competition was never with other people, it was with a version of myself i made up to justify never feeling done. i kept scanning rooms for who was ahead of me, and the truth is i was just avoiding the quiet of not knowing who i was without a scoreboard. once i stopped ranking myself against people doing a completely different assignment than me, the exhaustion just left, and i actually finished projects instead of immediately hunting for the next thing to prove. i still catch myself starting to scan a room out of habit, but now i notice it happening and just stop, and that alone has given me back hours i used to spend spiraling. ❤🙏🏻

In Myron Golden's framework, the four levels of teaching and learning (often contrasted with the four levels of value) are Tactics (the What), Strategy (the When and Why), Principles (the universal laws), and Essence (the Who behind the action). ==>> notice that he stops at Learning - where the real goal is application of what was learned

Love this! It’s just like an idea I’ve been playing with. An employee knows what to do and how to do it. A supervisor knows when it needs to happen. But a manager is the one who understands why it matters to the bigger picture.

These teachings are making me believe and enjoy reading the bible more. When the bible said "seek ye first the kingdom of God and its righteousness and all other things shall be added unto you", I believe it actually means that the wealth we are looking for is literally in the bible(word of God; the kingdom manual) Thank youuuuuuu Mr. Golden

"Knowing what to do doesn't mean we're going to do it. So, tactics teach you what to do. Now, here's the temptation. Here's the here's the tactical trap. When new people come to learn from you, they ask you what they should do. And you believe because they're asking you what they should do that if you tell them, then they will do it. But they don't because they don't know that just knowing the tactics is not going to help them achieve the tactics. The next level is strategy. Strategies answer when should I do it and why should I do it." This was me in 2016. The the Lord brought a person into my life that guided me to become April 2.0 in just 42 days after meeting him. Today, I don't just call him my mentor, but I also call him my hubby!!!

In short

A studio Q&A with Myron Golden built around the four levels of teaching — tactics, strategy, principles and essence — and why operating from essence means you never see anyone as competition again. He also fields questions about stepping away from the Make More Offers Challenge, how to know it's time to change who you serve, and how a couple with three young kids should handle a busy season by hiring out the work they don't like. Ends with Genesis 1 read as a pattern for automation and delegation.

Chapters

Key points

  1. 01

    Tactics are the lowest level

Most new teachers assume that if people know what to do they'll do it, but knowing the tactics doesn't get people to execute them.

  2. 02

    Principles are God's automation

If you study principles long enough you'll discover the tactics and strategies on your own, because A reliably produces B.

  3. 03

    Essence removes competition entirely

Essence is operating from true identity, integrity and good intentions — and since you're a one-and-only created for your own purpose, competition is impossible.

  4. 04

    Your signal is their noise

When you operate from essence some people will call you arrogant or pompous, and the move is to recognize who you're dealing with rather than react.

  5. 05

The past is familiar, the future isn't

It's easier to stay attached to a program you built than to the future, but the promised land isn't in Egypt or the wilderness.

  6. 06

    Hire out what you hate

Find what you spend the most time on that you're not good at and don't like, then pay someone to do it one day a week.

Lines worth keeping

  • God has no competition because he is who he is and he knows who he is.

The one-sentence core of the whole answer on essence and competition.

  • I am the only person in the history of the world who was ever created for my purpose. Therefore, it's impossible for me to have competition.

Reframes competition as a category error rather than something to beat.

  • You'll be misunderstood... some people think you're pompous because your signal is their noise.

Names the social cost of operating from essence and how to hold it.

  • It's easier for us to be attached to the past than it is to be attached to the future because the past is familiar and the future is unknown.

The pivot point for anyone hesitating to let go of a business they built.

  • People think they can't afford to hire people. But you can afford not to hire people.

Flips the cost objection that keeps busy founders doing low-value work.

What to do next

  1. 1

Study principles rather than chasing tactics.

If you study the principles long enough, the tactics and strategies will reveal themselves.

  2. 2

Stop reacting to people who treat your signal as noise.

They aren't misjudging you so much as recognizing your signal as noise, which you can't fix.

  3. 3

List the things you spend the most time on that you're not good at and don't like.

That list tells you exactly what to hand off first.

  4. 4

Hire someone for one day a week to take that work off you.

Two hundred dollars or less a week frees up time, energy and mental bandwidth you're currently wasting.

  5. 5

Build automation and delegation into your work from the start.

Genesis 1 shows the most productive week in history began with delegation, so being overwhelmed means you skipped it.
