JUST GET RICH FIRST | 3 Things That Are Keeping You Broke That You Must Stop Today Most people are trying to fix their financial situation by doing more—more work, more effort, more hustle. But what if the real problem isn’t what you’re not doing… it’s what you need to stop? In this direct and practical message, Myron Golden breaks down three key behaviors that quietly keep people stuck in financial struggle. Before you focus on building wealth, you have to eliminate the patterns that are preventing it. The core idea is simple but urgent: If you want to get rich, you must first stop doing the things that keep you broke. You’ll learn: Why certain habits silently drain your income and opportunities How mindset patterns keep people repeating the same financial cycles The difference between being busy and being productive Why avoiding these mistakes creates immediate financial progress How small daily decisions compound into long-term results The mindset shift required to move from survival to wealth-building Biblical principles behind discipline, stewardship, and increase This message will help you identify what’s holding you back, eliminate what isn’t working, and create space

Here's how you build wealth: 1. Start acquiring income-producing assets Buy things that make you money Stocks / ETFs Real estate (when ready) Side businesses Goal: earn income + grow value over time 2. Reinvest, don’t just spend When you make money from assets: Don’t spend it right away Don’t upgrade your lifestyle too fast Use that money to buy more assets This creates compounding growth 3. Build financial education Learn how money works: Taxes Investing basics Cash flow Don’t rely only on a paycheck The more you understand money, the better decisions you make

Most people in their 40s and 50s aren’t broke from spending too much. They’re broke from spending 30 years building someone else’s wealth and calling it a career.

1. The Priority Question: "What did you buy in the last two years before you had the asset paying for it?" 2. The Performance Question: "What percentage of your spending is about building your income producing asset window versus your wealth reducing liabilities window?" 3. what is the one thing that you are going to do this week to generate a dollar in your business?"

I have so many broke friends that get all dressed up in their designer outfits, shoes & hand bags to go out to the hottest restaurants & bars every weekend to be seen, post on social media for likes, then they spend all of their time responding to comments instead of making money. Its a vicious cycle that keeps them broke. I stopped going out with them, because I'm too busy creating wealth producing assets. You're a product of your environment, so I've distance myself due to lack of like-minded goals, and I'm tired of always paying for things, just because I have the means. I've decide to put more energy into relationships that can help me grow and succeed and I can do the same for them because they too also want to learn & grow. Be careful who you surround yourself with...you could be on a sinking raft surrounded by hungry sharks.

Today I decided that I am going to put my assets to work so I reached out to people that I hadn’t talked to in a while, told them about my book and sent them the link to purchase and to be sure to let me know what they thought of the book by putting their ratings and review out there, which will also help get the book in front of more people.

The problem many people have is that they don't feel like they have enough time to change with the times because there was a time when it was true that the abundance of wealth belonged to the specialist, who knew the most about one thing. But we live in an era where the wealth belongs more to the generalist who can learn the most new things the fastest.

In short

Myron Golden lays out three habits he says keep people broke: performing wealth before you have it, buying big things prematurely, and rewarding yourself with vacations and celebrations before you've produced. He draws his "financial house" diagram (income window, outgo window, wealth-reducing liabilities window, income producing asset window) and uses his own numbers, including $81,000 a year from a book written in 2006 and $180,000 from the Boss Moves funnel, plus the story of losing a $1,027,000 house in the recession. He closes with three questions to audit your own spending and one production question for the week.

Chapters

Key points

  1. 01

Poor, middle class and rich windows

Poor people think money's purpose is to pay bills, middle class people think it's to build credit so they can buy what they can't afford, and rich people focus on the income producing asset window.

  2. 02

Stop looking rich before you are

Performing to look wealthy postpones prosperity permanently; if you make under six figures, Louis Vuitton shoes and a used Mercedes are money stupid.

  3. 03

    Assets pay you years later

His Trash Man to Cash Man book made $81,000 in the last year for work done 20 years ago, and the Boss Moves funnel made $180,000, with no ads run to either.

  4. 04

    Premature purchases wall off wealth

Every major purchase you make before you're rich, whether house, car, degree or wedding, is a wall between you and the wealth you're seeking.

  5. 05

He lost the house he bought too soon

Making $100,000 a month, he took on $3,300 in car payments and an $8,400 mortgage, then sold a $1,027,000 house for about $636,000 when the recession hit.

  6. 06

    Produce before you play

Buying vacations and celebrations to anesthetize the pain of a struggling life is borrowing from a future you'll never have.

Lines worth keeping

  • Hard work is not the key to success. It's the key to exhaustion.

Sets up his whole argument that order matters more than effort.

  • If you make more money you'd just be broke at a higher level unless you change how you think about money.

The core reframe: perception about the purpose of money, not income size, determines wealth.

  • I never spend the mama money. I only spend the baby money. I only spend the money my money makes me.

His simplest rule for protecting capital that could be compounding.

  • Money controlled me way more when I didn't have any than it does now that I got plenty.

Answers the objection that chasing money makes it your master.

  • If you need a vacation from your life, the problem isn't your life. The problem is your order of operations.

Ties the third habit back to the theme of doing first things first.

What to do next

  1. 1

Redirect a portion of every dollar you earn into your income producing asset window.

It does nothing at first, but eventually that window pays your bills, your debt and your lifestyle.

  2. 2

Postpone the performance: stop buying status items before your assets can pay for them.

Performing to look wealthy postpones prosperity permanently.

  3. 3

List what you bought in the last two years before an asset was paying for it.

Not so you feel bad about it, but so you stop doing it again.

  4. 4

Calculate what percentage of your spending goes to assets versus wealth-reducing liabilities.

Liabilities make you look rich while they make you become poor.

  5. 5

Name the one thing you will do this week to actually generate a dollar and make a sale.

Not preparing to generate a dollar or building a brand, but actually producing.

You don't get rich by making more money.

It flips the most common assumption about wealth in one line and lands a memorable reframe about the purpose of money.

More money won't fix it. You'll just be broke at a higher level.
